The Role
Following our success in sales of our novel technology there are now significant opportunities for us in the technical management of these product lines. We are seeking a highly capable engineer to take ownership of our growing portfolio of current products. This is a rapidly growing area of our business and the products involve a high level of customisation for each sale making this a highly varied role using a broad skillset and offering great opportunities for future development. From the outset, interaction will be at all levels within the business and externally with our customers and suppliers.

Responsibilities
- Design responsibility for our current product ranges from a mechanical perspective and ownership of interfaces with other engineering teams such as electrical integration and control systems. Driving the design work to delivery.
- Working with the commercial team and lead engineer at the outset to configure the optimum customer specific solution. Understand the scope and identify design/analysis tasks, estimating timescales and level of effort, and managing task delivery.
- Creation and management of the Bill of Materials (BoM) for each product range. This includes restructuring, updating and releasing in a timely manner and ensuring deviations and substitutions are also managed and physically implemented.
- Onsite design support for procurement team, quality team, build team, commissioning and test team, customer success managers and other functions providing information and supporting problem resolution.
- Identify where process documentation or improvements to process are needed or offer good value and implement these.
- Optimising our manufacture, build, test and maintenance activities through design by seeking opportunities, understanding problems (root cause) and responding with product design updates, new tooling provisions and improved schedules, instructions and records.
- Seeking and implementing continuous product improvements based on commercial aims and customer needs e.g. noise reduction, aesthetic enhancements, reliability improvements, motion performance gains, customisation options, cost reductions.
- Lead or support design analysis and review activities such as status updates, design reviews, production readiness reviews, FMEAs, reliability assessments and risk assessments.
